Math With Camille

Individualized math support for your student

Math Help Is Here

“I just don’t get it.” “My teacher doesn’t explain things well.” ” I’m bored.” “My teacher doesn’t ‘get’ me.” “I’m just bad at math.”

Are you hearing this sort of thing at home? Is your child struggling in their math class? Are you having a hard time helping them at home? Is math making your child (or you) feel defeated and overwhelmed? Is your student reporting that class is moving too slowly and they just want to learn more? Does your learner feel like they just can’t connect with their teacher?

Math With Camille is the place for you and your child. The first thing I do is get to know your student a little. I prioritize the connection as much as the math. While building the relationship, I offer appropriately challenging opportunities for them to engage in problem solving. I value the process of exploring different approaches and letting the student figure out how they learn best and confidently go after solutions, which means that most of our sessions feel more like having a conversation about math and less like grill-and-drill exercises.

I am here to help your child learn that not only can math be fun, but they can be confident problem solvers who can think deeply about what is going on.

Math Tutoring

Does your child need support in learning math? I offer one-on-one instruction designed to meet your child’s needs. In full or half-hour sessions I work via Zoom with your student to identify areas of strength and areas of growth. I will help them to understand the work they are doing while building upon the skills they already have. Students working at any level are welcome!

Test Prep

Is your student getting ready to apply to their next school/college? Let me help. I offer half-hour or full hour sessions via Zoom designed to help your child prepare for the tests and entrance exams they need to take in order to achieve their goals. I focus on making sure your student has a strong foundation in the basics before building up their skill set (and confidence) with individualized instruction that caters to their needs.

Enrichment

Does your child love math and want to learn more? Are they bored in school because they just “get it?” I offer half-hour and full hour sessions via Zoom designed to give your student the opportunity to explore math at a pace that works for them. In these sessions, students can choose topics they want to dive deeper into, or I can build upon what they are currently learning in school.

Rates for all services: $150/ hour or $75/half-hour.

Cancellation Policy: Less than 24 hours notice requires full fee for time scheduled.

Leave the

math to me.

I love math. I always have, even though I’ve had some great struggles along the way. One of my greatest assets is my struggle — students tend to feel better when they know the ‘expert’ had a hard time with Algebra, too.

I love helping students of all ages and abilities learn math. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite, and many of them (and you) have deep-rooted feelings about their (and your) math abilities. My specialty is helping students grow from an “I’m not good at this” mindset to an “I can do this” one.

I love bringing families back together by taking math off the table. I have heard so many stories of struggle and frustration from parents who try to help at home, but are confounded by what or how their student is learning. Math education has changed since we were in school ourselves, and not every parent has the time to learn entirely new pedagogy well enough to teach it to someone. That’s where I come in. I know the questions to ask, the strategies to guide, and the way to make math make sense.

About Camille

I love helping students reach their potential and guiding them to those “Aha!” moments that make learning so meaningful. I’m a former math teacher with over 20 years’ experience in all levels of math. When I’m not sharing my love of math with others, I can be found hiking, hanging out with my dog, or traveling.

I taught Middle and High School Math for over 10 years in Chicago, IL. Before that, I was teaching in Albuquerque, NM. My love of mountains brought me to Phoenix, AZ, where I live with my wife and dog and can enjoy the great outdoors all the time. Before starting my career, I was a Math major at Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, MA. My love of math started at an early age, although I struggled as a student, myself, quite often. That struggle is what led me to teach. For more information about my work history, check out my resume.
